No host lant alternation; telia only. They are hypophyllous, very close together, reddish brown, pulverulent; the spores are 2-celled, 11-16 x 24-38 µm, apically verrucose and often with a conspicuous apiculus. they are born on a short, deciduous, flaccid,up to 20 µm long pedicel. Infected plants are disfigured and remain sterile; the leaves are pale and thickened.
