No host plant alternation, only uredinia and telia. Uredinia hypophyllous, also on the stem, often in rows, cinnamon coloured, soon naked, pulverulent. Spores 22-31 x 27-37 µm, wall apically somewhat thickened, 2(3) germination pores. Telia like the uredinia, but black. Spores 2-celled, ovoid, 21-31 x 34-47 µm; wall ± smooth; pedicel hyaline, breaking off, up to 40 µm.
