No alternation of host plant. No aecia. Uredinia amphigenous, brown; spores one-celled, with 2-3 pores. Telia black, pulvinate, soon naked. Teliospores two-spored, 16-28 x 35-52 µm, chestnut-coloured, smooth, short-elliptic, on a persistent hyaline pedicel of up tp 60 µm; apical wall of the top cell strongly thickened.
