No host plant alternation; aecia are missing. Spermogonia yellow, April-May. Uredinia and the rare telia amphigenous, pulverulent, dark brown and blackish brown, respectively. Urediniospores 16-25 x 22-31 µm, spinulose, with 2 germination pores in the top half of the spore, each surrounded by a spineless area. Teliospores 16-24 x 25-38 µm, elliptic, 2-celled, very finely verruculose; pedicel short, hyaline.
