No host plant alternation. Spermogonia, aecia, uredinia, and telia amphigenous. Aecia cupulate. Uredinia brown; spores with 4-5 dispersed pores. Telia black, compact, mainly on the stems; spores two-celled, smooth; pedicel persistent, yellowish, up to 3 x the length of the spore.
