No host plant alternation, only uredinia and telia. Uredinia amphigenous, on violet to brown leaf spots. Teliospores 12-23 µm with 2 germination pores. Telia small, hypophyllous, covered by the epidermis. Teliospores 2-celled (but 1-celled spores are not rare), 17-21 x 22-30 µm; wall smooth, apically thickened (to 7 µm); pedicel 17-60 µm, persistent.
