No host plant alternation. Spermogonia amphigenous, orange, darkening later. Aecia orange, at first wart-like, finally dish-shaped, on galled spots of the leaf underside and on the petioles. Uredinia and telia hypophyllous, dispersed over the leaf. Uredinia light brown; spores spinulose, 19-25 x 21-33 µm, 1(-2) germination pores (under the pore the spinulation is weak or absent). Telia dark brown; spores 1-celled, smooth, 15-33 x 15-40 µm; pedicel short, hyaline, deciduous.
