No hostplant alternation, Urediniospores and teliospores are formed in common, amphigenous, pulverulent, black sori. Urediniospores scarcely formed, one-celled, yellowish brown, finely spinulose with 2-3 equatorial germination pores. Teliospores darker brown, one-celled, coarsely verrucose; pedicel short, hyaline, flaccid, deciduous.

Gäumann also mentions Silene flos-cuculi; this is not repeated by later authors.
