No host plant alternation. The fungus is systemic, causing large parts of a plant to have a diseased, pale aspect. Aecia hypophyllous, many together, peridium white, frayed. No uredinia. Telia brown, hypophyllous or amphigenous. Teliospores one-celled, thin-walled with a low apical papilla and a short, deciduous pedicel.
