no host plant alternation; no spermopgonia or uredinia. Aecia hypophyllous, covering a large part of the leaf, cupulate, yellow; peridium frayed. Telia brown, hypophyllous, pulverulent. Teliospores one-celled, thin-walled with a low apical papilla and a short hyaline, deciduous pedicel. Fresh teliospores are smooth, but dried ones clearly are verrucose, the warts especially apically in short rows. The length of the spores is (22)25-30(33) µm.
