1-2 mm large, hard and swollen, yellowish green, sharply delineated pustules on the leaves. Embedded in the host tissue intracellular dense masses of pale yellow spores. Spores with an angular outline, 5-20 µm, with a smooth, 2-layered wall of variable thickness.
