the pods are swollen and deformed; the seeds are changed into a reddish brown granular powdery mass of spore balls. A spore ball consists of 4-20 spores (not surrounded by a layer of sterile cells, as in Urocystis). The fungus is systemic, practically all fruits of a plant are infested.
