the contents of the ultimately rupturing utriculi is transformed into a hard, black body consisting of agglutinated spores; initially it is covered by a silvery membrane, that later flakes off. Ripe sori desintegrate into pieces. The spores are 13-23 µm long, they bear spines, up to 1.5 µm long, that are rather closely placed and don’t easily break off.
