Long, narrow parallel brown striae on the leaves (mainly the youngest) and leaf sheaths. Here masses of brownish black spores are formed. The infection is systemic and causes considerable distortions. Spores 10-16 x 12-18 µm, with a reticulate-echinulate surface.
