Peronospora effusa

Peronospora effusa (Greville) Rabenhorst, 1854

on Spinacia


the infection is mostly systemic; the plants then are seriously disfigured. Upper-side of the leaves with bright yellow, vein-limited spots. At he underside of the leaves a greyish violet to brownish felt-like down of erect, 160-380 µm hig, conidiophores that apically several times are dichotomously branching, each branch ending upon an olivaceous brown conidium, 21-33 µm long. Embedded in the host tissue lie yellowish, thick-walled, smooth, oospores.
