gall

leaves abnormaly small, disfigured, spoon-like, upperside clearly discoloured; at the corresponding underside a grey-olive – copper-coloured fungal down, consisting of erect, distally repeatedly dichotomously branched conidiophores. The conidia are egg-shaped. The fungus is systemic and hibernates in the rhizome.
