The sepals remain closed, petals are missing. The anthers are green, strongly broadened and enlarged; they have near the apex, sometimes also elswhere, bundles of purple pistil hairs, and their sides bear series of ovule primordia. The ovary is more or less normal. No indication is found of a gall-causer.
