According to Leni Duistermaar this is not a known variety of this plant species. She wrote “Normally, in the flower heads no receptacular bracts are standing between the florets. However, in these plant very may tiny leaflets are standing between te florets, not extending above them.” Perhaps the malformation is caused by a phytoplasma.
