The fact that tufts of hair in a vein axil have a strong influence on the populations of leaf-inhabiting mites is amply illustrated by this picture. However, it is not clear whether the hair growth has been intensified by the presence of the mites (i.e., galling) or contrariwise the mites are concentrated on the most hairy sections of the midrib (and one could speak an a acarodomatium).
