Phytomyza picridocecis

Picris hieracioides, Duitsland, Thüringen, Mühlhausen; uit Hering (1957b); a : cephalic skeleton; b : frontal region of head; c : frontal spiraculum; d : rear spiraculum; e : part of the spinulation of the first abdominal segment, lateral; scale line is 0.1 mm.
Described by Hering (1957b). The larva is distinguished from those making similar mines in related Asteraceae by having only 9, rather than 15, papillae in the rear spiraculum. However, contrary to what Hering (1957b) describes and illustrates, he writes in 1957a (3:21) that the rear spiraculum has 12 papillae.
