According to Scheirs, De Bruyn & Verdyck this is the only hostplant, but Robbins (1991a) additionally mentions Agrostis.

Until the type material was studied by Spencer (1971a), there was much confusion around the name L. pusio. Hendel (1920) believed it to be a synomym of L. congesta; this explains why de Meijere (1924a) listed L. pusio from the Netherlands with Pisum as a hostplant, and recorded pusio as a variety of L. congesta in his checklist of 1939. Later Hendel (1931-1936) incorrectly connected pusio with L. tragopogonis, which still confused Hering (1954a, 1957a).

Hering (1957a) discriminates between L. graminivora and pusio because the first one would mine from the base of the leaf towards the tip, while pusio would work top-down. This has been refuted by Griffiths (1962a): both directions are equally common in pusio.
