Oviposition near the leaf margin; often several eggs on the same leaf, well separated. The larva ar first mines some distance towards the leaf tip, then reverses and descends to about the initial position. The mine remains semi-linear all the while, never becoming wider than 4 mm. Frass in large conspicuous particles. Pupation external; the puparia adhere to the leaf.
