Teleomorph: 3 mm long black stromata below the epidermis of the leaf sheats, that split open longitudinally. They contain a series of perithcia cavities. Ascospores 5-6 x 17-24 µm, hyaline, 1=septare. the anamorf forms elongated leaf spots with 1 mm long acervuli; conidia globular, finely verrucculose, ø 10-16 µm.
